TRAUMA IS A PARTY (OF ONE)

Inspired by their work as a mental health counselor for seven years, as well as the modality Somatic Experiencing, Julz designed and created seven looks for an avant-garde fashion show highlighting “disorders” from the DSM, showing how these “symptoms” can manifest in the body. The show also gave a satirical commentary on the non-profit industrial complex. Julz allowed the audience to observe the looks without reinforcing the names of the disorders, depathologizing the subjects as queer models crawled, ran, or jumped off the runway.
